I love socks durring this time of year, and wanted to spice up and widen my elaborate collection
tie dye kit
This Tie Dye kit is available at most craft stores and it works amazing!
(I used this kit for the socks above)
In the kit there was a presoak powder to help the fabric absorb pigment.
I mixed that with warm water in the bowl.
Layout all your materials and try to be organized
I let my socks soak for about 10 minutes in the provided solution
Make sure to squeeze out ALL the liquid (as much as possible), they need to be able to absorb the dye.
Prepare your dying surface. I used the floor of the shower, and a trash bag to be EXTRA safe!
Add warm/hot water to the dye bottles, and shake well to dissolve the dye.
(be careful not to splatter yourself)
Now have FUN and apply the dye in any pattern
After letting the socks sit for 24 hours remove the rubber bands and rinse with cold water…
wash, dry, and enjoy your new socks!
This is my current project
Yarn: Joann’s Fabrics
Needles: Size 12
Stitch: The first 3 rows are knitting and the rest is in stocking stitch
One of my FAVORITE calming activities is knitting. I learned when I was young, and I have stuck with it since. There are so many ways to make knitting your own, and personalize it… Needle size, yarn type, etc.
Here’s a great website to learn how to knit (or learn new stitches)
If you need to purchase some needles & yarn they are available at most superstores, and for higher quality yarns it better to go to a knitting & crocheting speciality store.
My rainy days consist of:
puddles (to jump in)
When it’s rainy I always manage to have this song in my mind.
My Labor day weekend consisted of yoga on the go, great food, a little shopping, and much needed beach play.
Hope everyone had a great holiday!
